Dr. Adnan Kefal is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Sabanci University, where he is also affiliated with the Composite Technologies Centre of Excellence in Turkey. He earned his Ph.D. degree in 2017 from the Naval Architecture, Marine and Ocean Engineering Department at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK. Prior to his current position at Sabanci University, Dr. Kefal contributed significantly to the field of research as a visiting researcher at NASA LangleyResearch Centre in the USA. He also served as an Assistant Professor at Istanbul Technical University in Turkey, showcasing a diverse and international academic background.
Dr. Kefal’s expertise lies in the realms of computational and experimental mechanics, with a particular emphasis on engineering optimization techniques applied to large-scale structures. His research also extends to structural health monitoring and the mechanics of composite structures, reflecting a comprehensive understanding of materials and their applications in engineering. Notably, Dr. Kefal has made substantial contributions to scholarly publications, co-authoring more than 55 articles in prestigious journals. Additionally, he has presented his research findings at over 58 conferences, further establishing his prominence in the academic community.
